Digital Scanning for the Prosthodontist and Using the Digital Scanner for Full Service Implant Therapy Sponsored by Henry Schein Dental Curtis Jansen, DDS University of Southern California Monterey, California Lee Walker, DDS, MD Los Gatos Oral & Facial Surgery Los Gatos, California Digital impressions of implant scan bodies simplify the implant treatment process while improving the patient experience. Imagine an intuitive chairside digital capture of teeth and scan bodies incorporating dentate and/ or edentulous mouths. View and manipulate what is scanned in real time at 10-plus times magnification on a flat-screen monitor. Create virtual implant guides and/or treatment plans, and then transfer the data to a restorative, surgical or laboratory partner. With the implementation of an intraoral scanner, the surgical team can provide consistent esthetic outcomes that patients expect and offer a great service to referrals, while also encouraging incremental patient referrals. The IOS patient experience can differentiate a practitioner from others and give him or her access to laboratories that other referral sources may not have. Layer in 3D printing, CAD/CAM and/or a CBCT with IOS and introduce digital workflows to procure surgical guides, implant abutments and/or restorations. This hands-on course will allow surgeons to determine if an IOS strategy can become an important marketing tool for their practice and how to implement the strategy. Learning Objectives: o Discuss the benefits and limitations of different IOS systems. o Perform clinical procedures associated with IOS. o Identify the potential advantages of making digital impressions at the implant surgical release instead of a referral making conventional impressions at a separate appointment. o Describe the use of multiple digital workflows, which all begin with IOS to empower referral base. o Examine the potential of combining IOS and CBCT technology to create virtual treatment plans and printing surgical guides.

Transformational Dentistry: The Synergy between Clinician and Technician Sponsored by Ivoclar Vivident Lee Culp, MDT As dentistry continually evolves into the digital world, the successful incorporation of computerization and new technology provides more efficient methods of communication and fabrication. Dental technicians today are able to receive far more information from the patient than ever before. The benefits include the standardization of working steps, an increase in material quality and reproducible restorations. At the same time, the number of all-ceramic restorative options continues to increase in the marketplace. Understanding the difference in these materials, their limitations and the effect varying workflows and processing has on the material has become vital to successful restorative placement and esthetic outcome. Digitalization of removable procedures has also revolutionized the fabrication of prosthesis. Using the communication, software and other tools, digital dentures and other prosthesis have become predictable, reproducible and esthetic. This demonstration workshop will offer the following objectives: 1. Understand the esthetic and physical differences between zirconia materials. 2. Know the latest techniques for scanning, designing and manufacturing restorative materials 3. Understand the process for fabricating digital dentures, using both milled and 3D printing technologies. 4. Learn the differences in milling and 3D resins for Removable Prosthetics.
